Home Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said that his ministry would not compete with other ministries to get funds for village development.
“There’s no such thing as competition to receive the funds,” Tjahjo said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Tjahjo was commenting on media reports that his ministry was trying to take away development funds for the country’s villages from the Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Ministry.
In the 2015 state budget, the government has allocated Rp 700 trillion (US$55.6 billion) to regional administrations.
The village fund accounts for 10 percent of the Rp 700 trillion budget.
The funds will be disbursed in three stages: 50 percent in the first stage and 30 percent and 20 percent in the following two stages. All village heads should establish village-owned companies to manage these funds.
