Kata “perceive” ini diadaptasi menjadi “persepsi” dalam Bahasa Indonesia. Perceive sendiri berarti : melihat, mengetahui, mengerti. Namun rasa bahasanya dari kata “mengerti” dan “berpersepsi” tentu saja sangat berbeda bukan? Persepsi itu pemahamannya subyektif, sedangkan “understand” mengertinya lebih lugas dan obyektif.
Ternyata kamus Inggris-Indonesia masih belum cukup untuk memahami makna kata “perceive” keseluruhan. Oke, ini saya tuliskan pemahaman yang ada di kamus monolingual-nya :
